Founder, BioTraject Systems

Dr. Celestin Missikpode is the founder of BioTraject Systems, a computational medicine company developing products for chronic disease modeling, forecasting, and decision support. The company was founded on the conviction that many chronic diseases are too dynamic, heterogeneous, and longitudinally complex to be fully understood through static scores, isolated thresholds, or one-time predictions alone. Grounded in scientific rigor, patient-specific modeling, and real-world healthcare complexity, BioTraject Systems aims to build tools that make disease progression easier to see, interpret, and act on over time. Its products are designed to help clinicians and health systems understand disease trajectories, evaluate intervention strategies, and support more informed decisions. NephroSync™, the company’s first flagship product in development, reflects this vision in chronic kidney disease.

Background and expertise

Dr. Celestin Missikpode is a physician-scientist whose work bridges clinical medicine, public health, machine learning, and systems thinking and simulation to advance patient-centered prediction and decision support for complex chronic diseases. His work focuses on understanding how complex diseases evolve over time, why patients with similar diagnoses can follow different clinical trajectories, and how longitudinal clinical data can be translated into meaningful analytical frameworks. This perspective is grounded in the belief that chronic illness unfolds over time through the interaction of biology, treatment, behavior, and health system factors. By combining clinical insight with quantitative and computational modeling, his work aims to move beyond static risk prediction toward forecasting, simulation, and decision-support tools that better reflect the dynamic nature of chronic disease progression.

Why BioTraject Systems was created

BioTraject Systems was created in response to a clear gap in the way chronic disease is often managed and modeled. In many settings, disease assessment still depends heavily on static categories, periodic review, generalized clinical logic, and fragmented interpretation of longitudinal information. While those approaches can be useful, they do not always reflect how disease progresses in an individual patient over time or how projected outcomes may differ under alternative strategies.

BioTraject Systems was founded to build a different kind of platform: one that combines longitudinal data, disease-specific modeling, patient-level estimation, and scenario comparison into products designed for more forward-looking decision support.

Leadership philosophy

BioTraject Systems is guided by a philosophy centered on clarity, rigor, and long-term value creation

Scientific rigor

The company is built with a strong commitment to methodological discipline, careful architecture design, and meaningful clinical relevance.

Product focus

BioTraject Systems is focused not on technology for its own sake, but on building products that can become genuinely useful in healthcare, research, and life sciences settings.

Long-term platform vision

While the company begins with kidney disease through NephroSync™, the broader goal is to build a durable computational medicine platform capable of supporting multiple future products over time.

Practical ambition

BioTraject Systems is building with ambition, but also with realism. The goal is to create technology that is not only innovative, but also interpretable, robust, and suited for real decision environments.

Looking ahead

BioTraject Systems is still in an early stage of development, but it has a clear long-term vision: to help define a new category of computational medicine products that move beyond static analytics and toward longitudinal, individualized, and simulation-based understanding of chronic disease.
“NephroSync™ is the first step in that journey.”
